What would you do if you confessed your love, closed your eyes for what felt like a moment, and then awoke two centuries later in a world unrecognizable? That is the haunting question at the heart of Dusk Beyond the End of the World (永久のユウグレ, Towa no Yūgure)—a breathtaking new post-apocalyptic anime from P.A. Works, created for the studio’s 25th anniversary.
Premiering September 26, 2025, this original series mixes science fiction, romance, and a lingering sense of destiny. At its core lies a love story stretched across time, memory, and the ruins of humanity itself.
As the trailer whispers:“The sun has set on the world we knew… but the twilight remembers.”
🌒 The Story: Between Sleep and Eternity
The anime follows Akira Himegami, a man placed into cold sleep after confessing his feelings to Towasa Ōmaki. When he awakens 200 years later, the Earth has been transformed. Civilization has fallen, and in its ashes rises Owel, a mysterious organization that now holds dominion.
In this twilight world, Akira encounters Yūgure, an android who shocks him with an unexpected proposal—marriage. But Akira cannot accept, for his heart still belongs to Towasa. Believing she may yet live, he sets out on a desperate quest to find her. Yūgure, driven by her own secrets and devotion, joins him on this journey across desolate landscapes, shattered cities, and fragile hopes.
It is a story of survival, but also of longing—a love that refuses to vanish, even when the world itself has ended.
