đ Fear Street: Prom Queen â Blood, Ballots, and a Killer Prom Night
Coming to Netflix on May 23, 2025
"Winning just might be the death of you." Thatâs the chilling tagline for the latest installment in the Fear Street universe â Fear Street: Prom Queen. Directed by Matt Palmer and based on the classic 1992 Fear Street novel by R.L. Stine, this slasher flick takes us back to 1988, where the stakes at Shadyside Highâs prom are literally life and death.
𩞠Welcome Back to Shadyside
The cursed town of Shadyside returns in full retro horror glory. This time, the carnage descends on the biggest night of the school year: prom.
In 1988, Shadyside High is buzzing with prom fever. The glitter, the gowns, the gossip â and of course, the ruthless campaign for Prom Queen. But as the "It Girls" jockey for the crown, the competition turns deadly. One by one, candidates begin to disappear. Is it a jealous rival? A supernatural curse? Or something even darker?
Enter Lori Granger (India Fowler), a sharp but underestimated outsider who finds herself thrust into the blood-soaked spotlight. With help from unexpected allies, sheâll have to navigate mean girls, high school politics, and a very real killer if she hopes to survive prom night.
đ„ The Fear Street Legacy Continues
After the runaway success of the original Fear Street trilogy on Netflix, Prom Queen takes a more intimate, slasher-centric
approach â reviving the teen scream energy of â80s horror while staying rooted in the Fear Street mythos.
Director Matt Palmer, co-writing with Donald McLeary, crafts a tense, neon-drenched nightmare filled with nostalgia and nerve-shredding suspense. Expect locker room secrets, prom night betrayals, synth-soaked scares, and a whole lot of blood on the dance floor.
đ Cast of Queens (and Suspects)
India Fowler as underdog protagonist Lori Granger
Suzanna Son as queen bee Megan Rogers
Fina Strazza as the glamorous Tiffany Falconer
Ariana Greenblatt as Christy Renault
Ella Rubin, David Iacono, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston round out a stacked ensemble, with everyone looking suspicious.
Each character is hiding something â and when the tiaras come off, the knives come out.
đŻïž Prom Night, 1988: A Perfect Storm
Cinematographer MĂĄrk Györi bathes the film in vintage â80s style, while The Newton Brothersâ eerie score builds a tension that never lets go. Whether itâs the flicker of disco lights or the echo of a scream in a darkened hallway, Fear Street: Prom Queen keeps viewers guessing until the final frame.
