Good Boy (2025) — When Man’s Best Friend Faces Man’s Worst Nightmares

If loyalty had a heartbeat, it would sound like the pounding steps of Indy — a golden-brown retriever caught between his human’s trust and the shadows that hunger for them. Good Boy isn’t just another haunted house tale; it’s horror told through the eyes of the only one who can see the truth — and the only one willing to die for it.

🌒 A House That Breathes, and a Dog That Sees

From director Ben Leonberg in his feature debut, Good Boy takes us far from city lights to a decaying farmhouse buried in the countryside. Todd (Shane Jensen), grieving and seeking quiet, moves into the old home once owned by his grandfather (Larry Fessenden). The locals speak in hushed tones about the place — tales of things that linger, of whispers in the walls. Todd shrugs them off.

But Indy doesn’t. Through his eyes, the truth unfolds: the shadows bend, the air trembles, and shapes slither where light dares not go. “Stay back,” his gaze seems to say — but how do you protect someone who can’t see the threat at all?

🐕 Loyalty Beyond Fear

This is no talking-dog comedy. Indy can’t warn Todd with words. He can only stand guard, teeth bared, fur bristling, heart racing against the unseen tide. The film strips away human arrogance, reminding us that perhaps our animals notice what we cannot — and that love sometimes means stepping into the dark alone.

As the supernatural activity escalates, the farmhouse becomes a battlefield between a loyal soul and forces older than the land itself. With a runtime of 72 minutes, the tension never lets go.
