Param Sundari (2025): Cast, Plot, Review, Box Office Collection & OTT Release Date – A Colorful Romance That Misses Its Beat 🎶✨

Bollywood’s big-screen experiment with love, technology, and cultural clashes has arrived in the form of Param Sundari (2025). Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the romantic comedy pairs Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in a story that blends AI matchmaking with old-world charm. But despite its star power and glossy visuals, the film has drawn mixed reactions from critics and audiences alike.

❤️ The Story of Param & Sundari

Set across Delhi’s fast-paced city life and Kerala’s serene landscapes, Param Sundari follows Param Sachdev (Sidharth Malhotra), a wealthy North Indian entrepreneur who discovers an AI-powered dating app called Soulmates. When he tests it, he’s matched with Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor), a traditional yet independent homestay owner in Kerala.

As Param travels south to prove the app’s success (and challenge his father’s skepticism), he’s thrust into Sundari’s world of family traditions, culture, and martial arts—led by her uncle Bhargavan Nair (Renji Panicker). Their love story unfolds against a backdrop of humorous culture clashes, warm family ties, and the timeless Bollywood trope of opposites attract.

One character quips: “Dil ke equation ko koi algorithm solve nahi kar sakta”—a line that sums up the film’s central conflict between technology and human connection.

🎭 Performances & Chemistry

  • Sidharth Malhotra delivers a polished performance, though at times his role feels one-dimensional.

  • Janhvi Kapoor brings warmth and dignity to Sundari, especially in emotional scenes with her family.

  • Together, however, their chemistry feels uneven—sparks flicker, but rarely ignite into fire.

  • Supporting actors like Sanjay Kapoor (as Param’s father) and Abhishek Banerjee add comic relief, while Renji Panicker brings gravitas.

🎶 Music & Visuals: The Saving Grace

The film’s Sachin–Jigar soundtrack has quickly found fans, with songs trending on playlists even as reviews remain lukewarm. Numbers like the romantic ballad “Dil Aur Data” and the vibrant title track “Param Sundari” are already chart-toppers.

Cinematographer Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran deserves special mention for stunningly capturing Kerala’s lush landscapes and Delhi’s sleek urban vibe. Visually, Param Sundari is a treat—even if its screenplay falters.

📝 The Criticism

While lighthearted and colorful, the film has drawn criticism for:

  • Stereotypical portrayals of Kerala & Malayali culture, which sparked controversy online.

  • A predictable screenplay that fails to balance its modern-tech premise with the emotional core of the story.

  • Uneven pacing—romantic comedy one moment, melodrama the next.

Rotten Tomatoes currently gives it a low 8% approval rating, and IMDb users rate it a 6/10. Yet, 65% of Google users liked the film, showing that audiences are divided.

💰 Box Office So Far

Despite its reviews, Param Sundari has performed decently at the box office:

  • Opening Day: ₹10.36 crore worldwide

  • Total Collection (so far): ~₹76.03 crore

  • Budget: ₹60 crore

The film has crossed its budget, turning a modest profit, thanks largely to its music, star power, and strong family audience turnout.

💻 OTT Release

For those who missed it in theaters, Param Sundari will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video shortly after its theatrical run, making it easy for audiences to catch the romance from home.

🎬 Final Verdict

Param Sundari is a film that shines in its music and visuals but struggles in storytelling. It had the potential to be a refreshing cultural rom-com about technology and love but gets weighed down by clichés and stereotypes.

If you’re a fan of Sidharth or Janhvi—or simply want a vibrant rom-com with hummable songs—it’s worth a watch. But for many, it might feel like a missed opportunity.

Rating: 2.5/5

As one character in the film remarks: “Love is not found in apps, it’s found in moments.” Unfortunately, Param Sundari doesn’t quite create enough of those moments on screen.
