According to the creative team, this version of Reilly is jaded, prone to violence, and not interested in redemption arcs. Cage reportedly approached the role as “70% Humphrey Bogart, 30% Bugs Bunny,” which may be the most accurate way to describe the tone: classic detective grit with flashes of unpredictable intensity.
