The Fantastic Four: First Steps Box Office Collection So Far

Marvel Studios has officially brought Marvel’s First Family back into the spotlight, and fans have responded in force. The Fantastic Four: First Steps—the long-awaited reboot directed by Matt Shakman—has been setting waves across the globe since its July 25, 2025 release. With its retro-futuristic 1960s setting, star-studded cast led by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, and the high-stakes arrival of Galactus, this marks a new era for the MCU’s Phase Six.

And now, just a few weeks into release, the film’s box office numbers are shaping up to be both impressive and telling.

A Strong Opening Weekend

Marvel knew expectations were high, and First Steps delivered a massive opening. The film was projected to pull in $190–210 million globally during its debut, and it surpassed expectations with $216.7 million worldwide.

  • Domestic (U.S. & Canada): $117.6 million opening weekend

  • International: $99.1 million opening weekend

Notably, the movie set a record for the biggest preview box office of 2025, earning $24.4 million in Thursday night previews, edging out this summer’s Superman. Its $57 million opening day ranked as the second-best of 2025, only behind A Minecraft Movie.

Current Box Office Total

As of August 15, 2025, the film has earned:

  • Domestic: $240.6 million

  • International: $204.6 million

  • Worldwide Total: $445.3 million

This milestone cements First Steps as the highest-grossing Fantastic Four movie ever—surpassing all previous attempts to bring Marvel’s First Family to screen. It also currently sits as the 10th highest-grossing film of 2025.

Second and Third Weekend Trends

Like many superhero blockbusters, First Steps saw a significant dip in its second weekend:

  • Second Weekend (Domestic): $38.7 million, a 66% drop from its debut

  • Second Friday Drop: An 80% decline, one of the sharpest drops of the year (just behind Captain America: Brave New World)

Despite this, the movie still managed to hold onto the #1 spot at the box office for two straight weekends, showcasing strong brand loyalty and continued international appeal.

In the U.K. and Ireland, it topped charts for two consecutive weeks, grossing £15.3 million ($20.4 million) by the second week. By its third weekend, however, it slipped to #3 domestically with $15.8 million.

What These Numbers Mean

At a production budget reported to be over $200 million, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has already more than doubled its debut expectations. While sharp second-week drops mirror a trend common among modern superhero films, its global momentum and strong international performance point toward a healthy overall run.

Given its success and positive reception, Marvel is already moving forward with a sequel, teasing Doctor Doom’s arrival in its mid-credits scene. Fans can expect Franklin Richards and the Future Foundation to play a major role in shaping the MCU’s Phase Six storyline.

Final Thoughts

The Fantastic Four have always held a special place in Marvel Comics history, and First Steps proves that the team finally has a cinematic home worthy of its legacy. With nearly half a billion dollars earned in just three weeks, and a sequel already in development, it looks like the MCU’s future is stretching further than ever before.

Worldwide Gross (so far): $445.3 million

And counting…
